ABOUT US
Established by former RGN and Ward Sister Margaret Mandal, we have been providing quality complex care and Domiciliary Care to the people of Wearside since 1989.
Having grown up on a small farm in Ireland, Margaret travelled to England to pursue her dream of nursing. It was during her time as a Ward Sister that Margaret began to consider the needs of patients who were due to be discharged from hospital, knowing they would be unsupported at home and recognising the need of a reliable after hospital support service to provide non clinical nursing care and companionship.
Care at Home was one of the first of its kind to open in England, known locally as "Maggies Daffodils", due to wearing bright yellow tunic dresses and white belt. Care at Home quickly gained recognition from the national health service for its contribution to care and rehabilitation of people with complex care needs who needed extra support at home.
Whilst our uniform has now changed, we continue to maintain our original focus of encouraging independence and ensuring the well being of the people who use our service. Supporting families and informal carers and delivering high quality nurse led training to our staff teams.
